1) Lamar Jackson
QB | Louisville
Next Game: 10/22 vs. NCST

Jackson’s 144 rushing yards were huge in Louisville’s closer than expected win over Duke Friday night. He has performed at an extremely high level all season. Next up is a battle with a tough North Carolina State team, it will be interesting to see what Jackson does as compared to how Watson did against the Wolfpack.

2) Jake Browning
QB | Washington
Next Game: 10/22 vs. ORST

Washington had a bye this week. Browning has performed at an amazing level, as his 23 TD’s and 2 ints will attest. Browning and the Huskies have come out of nowhere to become serious title contenders. It looks like Browning and the Huskies are going to be around to the end this season.

3) Jabrill Peppers
LB | Michigan
Next Game: 10/22 vs. ILL

Peppers and the Wolverines had a bye week as they prepare to host Illinois. Usually, a defensive players chances to win the Heisman are not great, but it looks like Michigan is going to start using Peppers on offense which should help his candidacy. He is the best FOOTBALL player in the country in my opinion.

4) Deshaun Watson
QB | Clemson
Next Game: 10/29 at FSU

Watson and the Tigers were a missed field goal from disaster at home against N.C.State, but they got it done in OT. Can Watson and the Tigers finish strong? If you look at the remaining schedule they should be in title contention until the end.

5) J.T. Barrett
QB | Ohio State
Next Game: 10/22 at PSU

Barrett had a bad outing two weeks ago against Indiana and things weren’t going well in Wisconsin. Until the second half were Barrett and the Buckeyes almost certainly saved their season. Seems the entire season may come down to a battle with Michigan. Michigan may have the best defense in the country. A big performance in that game could put him at the top or near the top of this list.
