The Alabama Crimson Tide was exposed on Saturday afternoon by the Auburn Tigers. This was not a game won on a lucky play, this was a game that was dominated by Auburn who controlled time of possession and the flow of the game.
This article is not written to rip on Bama, but rather because it is the grueling truth: Alabama should not the 2017 College Football Playoffs. Who have they beat to deserve consideration as a participant in a College Playoff system?

I’m sorry, but this schedule was WEAK! They beat three teams that were ranked in the top 25 and the only one rated in the top 10 was Florida State and the Seminoles ended up being horrible this year. I know Alabama can’t control how good the teams are they play, as the SEC had a down year this year and nobody knew that Florida State would suck as bad as they did. But it is Alabama’s fault that they scheduled Mercer!
Ohio State made the playoffs last year and didn’t play in conference championship
I have heard this argument made since the Tide’s humbling loss to Auburn and while I agree Ohio State shouldn’t have gotten in last year the Buckeyes at least could make a case. Last year the Buckeyes had beaten Big 12 champion Oklahoma on the road early and notched two other wins over top-10 teams against Michigan and Wisconsin. Despite its loss to Penn State — a game, by the way, in which Ohio State out-gained Penn State 413-276 — the Buckeyes were deemed worthy at 11-1 while the Big Ten champion Nittany Lions were left out. So at least the Buckeyes had three quality wins, Bama does not, heck do they have even one?
Alabama maybe the third best team in the SEC
The committee that decided to allow a team that didn’t win their conference tournament in did I would hope because they thought that maybe a Big Ten or SEC would have two of the best teams in the country. The problem there is the Georgia Bulldogs have better wins than Alabama does. Georgia beat Notre Dame in South Bend at the start of the season and while it’s true the Irish have fallen off as of late they are still a better win than beating Mississippi State or LSU.
Why Alabama could still make it
This is the easy part tradition, money, fan base those three things are why they will still get in if the committee has any chance to get them in and that goes for Ohio State also as the NCAA is not about student-athletes: It’s about making money. And if Alabama and Ohio State make it, that’s more money for the crooks that run the NCAA.
