If there’s one thing I’ve learned during this 2016 season, it’s that I hate fantasy football. [Ah, come on, Travis; everyone says that at this point in the season. See? –Ed.]
It’s the worst. [Everyone says that, too. –Ed.]
After a nice streak of finishing “in the money” on DraftKings last week was one of those weeks where *nothing* went right. The Manny Show had two catches for sixteen yards against Winnipeg! Jerome Messam rushed for 49 yards against the league’s worst run defense. The Roughrider defense actually scored more fantasy points than anyone on my team.
Here’s to a better Week 17 in DraftKings CFL daily fantasy football this week (without Duron Carter or Kenny Stafford, of course).
Mike Reilly (EDM QB $11,600) – I really wanted to go with Bo Levi Mitchell in this spot, but I can’t resist the most expensive quarterback on Draft Kings in Mike Reilly. I can see Calgary getting up early on Toronto and just running the ball for three quarters, but Edmonton wants a home playoff game. Reilly is up against his former team and the league’s second-worst secondary in BC. I like Reilly coming off the BYE.
Mossis Madu Jr. (OTT RB $5,000) – Madu has started the past four games for Ottawa and hasn’t received fewer than 11 carries. He also added five catches against the Ticats last week. It’s getting to be that time of the year when the running game becomes more and more important, and the weather conditions aren’t looking too favourable for this Friday’s game. Ottawa may need the running game even more this week, so they may just expand on last week’s 19 touches. $5,000 is a price I’m more than willing to pay for that kind of use.
Brandon Zylstra (EDM WR $3,500) – It seems like Edmonton has finally found a legitimate number three receiver outside of Bowman and Walker. Zylstra is perfect if you’re looking to hit a home run while saving a pile of cash: He had 104 yards and a touchdown against Montreal in Week 15, and I love his upside against an adventurous Lions secondary.
DaVaris Daniels (CGY WR $8,300) – Daniels has quickly become one of the most consistent receivers in the Canadian Football League. He’s got 7 touchdowns in 9 games and is averaging just under 7 targets a game. And the Argonauts don’t scare *anyone*. If the Stampeders still don’t want to rest their starters, I have no problem rolling with any one of them against Toronto.
Terrell Sinkfield Jr. (BC Flex $3,900) – Sinkfield should cost way more than he does, so I’m going to take advantage of the discount everywhere I can. I may even be able to afford Grey Cup tickets with the saved money! The Lions are figuring out how to use Sinkfield more and more every week, and he has the talent to test that shaky Eskimo secondary. The big play threat is averaging over 18 yards a touch and I expect another nice game from him while the Eskimos key in on Arceneaux and Burnham.
