It’s that time again, a time where teams cut ties with General Managers and Head Coaches and we all try to figure out where everyone will end up.
Here’s what we know so far:
Saints – Will they trade Sean Payton? This would be a move that would drastically change the Rams and Saints. If they do, sources are saying Doug Marrone from Jacksonville could get the job.
Packers – GM Ted Thompson has been rumored to possibly step down, but nothing has been confirmed. It’s likely that Eliot Wolf would be his replacement.
Lions – Jim Caldwell could be on the hot seat, but I’d guess his job is safe.
Bears – John Fox’s future seems to be up in the air, but he probably returns.
Rams – Jeff Fisher was fired a couple of weeks ago. They will look at names like Josh McDaniels, Kyle Shanahan and Doug Marrone, but that possible trade with New Orleans for Sean Payton would be fascinating.
49ers – GM Trent Baalke and Head Coach Chip Kelly were fired over the weekend, much to the delight of the 49ers Faithful. Possible replacements for Chip Kelly are Josh McDaniels, Kyle Shanahan, and Bills interim coach Anthony Lynn, who interviewed last year.
Broncos – Gary Kubiak has retired. The two likeliest replacement candidates are Kyle Shanahan and Dolphins’ defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was a strong candidate when John Fox’s tenure was finished. Also watch what happens in Indianapolis with Chuck Pagano.
Chargers – Mike McCoy was fired on Sunday. The guys to watch are Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, Cardinals’ offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin, and Stanford Head Coach David Shaw. I would doubt Patricia is hired, as the Chargers already have a good defensive coordinator that they also could promote in John Pagano.
Jaguars – Gus Bradley was fired some time ago and most of the previously mentioned candidates will be on Jacksonville’s list like Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, Kyle Shanahan, Doug Marrone, Sean Payton, Doug Marrone. Tom Coughlin could be a candidate as well as he has already spoken to Jacksonville, but one report says he will not be the coach.
Colts – Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson are on the hot seat. Both could easily stay. At this point, there has been no real indication from Irsay what will happen. Rumors are swirling about Peyton Manning becoming the new G.M.
Bills – Rex Ryan was fired (also DC Rob Ryan). Anthony Lynn could remain on as the coach, but if not, the usual suspects are on the list, but also Sean McVay from Washington.
Bengals – Marvin Lewis could be fired or he could quit, but it appears that he will be back in 2017 for Cincinnati.
