). The phrase any given Sunday is still true: Who in their right mind would have even given the Dolphins an outside chance of beating the Pittsburgh Steelers? Former Boise State running back Jay Ajayi, rushed for 204 yards and the up until now inept Dolphins defense shut down one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL.

). The Atlanta Falcons are for real: I know they lost, but to go to Seattle and play heads up against the Seahawks was impressive. It took a controversial no-call on an obvious pass interference to beat the Falcons. The Falcons have maybe the best offense in the league, and now an ever improving defense.

). Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are the real deal: 3 touchdown passes, Ezekiel Elliott goes off and the Dallas defense shuts down the Packers offense. How do you bench Prescott if Romo comes back now? The answer is you can’t!

). The Green Bay Packers are in trouble: The supposed best run defense in the NFL was exposed against the Dallas Cowboys line. Let’s face it this was the first big time running back they faced and they were exposed. More concerning has to be the play of Aaron Rodgers and their offense as a whole.

). Life is not fair: RIP to former New York Jets lineman Dennis Byrd who sadly died in a car wreck over the weekend. He overcame paralysis to walk again and to have his life end this way at such a young age is not fair.

). Cam Newton learned nothing from the Super Bowl last year: After last year’s Super Bowl post-game press conference, you would think he would have learned to not act like a baby? Hard to be considered a great QB when you act the way he does after things go wrong.

). All the sudden the NFC East is a very good division: The Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles all the sudden look very good. The Giants are still winning some games and are still relevant. From top to bottom this may just be the best division in football.

). You do not want to play Detroit in Detroit: Matthew Stafford played another great game at home yesterday, and with Golden Tate finally playing up to his abilities this just may be the second best team in the NFC North right now.

). The greatest coach after a bye is Andy Reid: Reid in his career is now 16-2 following a bye week.

). The Patriots have a weakness: The Patriots offensive and defensive lines did not play well yesterday in a 35-17 win over the Bengals. Brady was hit, rushed and hurried most of the game. If the lines don’t play better the Patriots will be beatable.

). Andy Dalton is NOT the Bengals problem: Dalton played very well in the Bengals loss to the Patriots yesterday, in the first half he was almost flawless. The Bengals problem is a terrible offensive line, if they do not straighten the line out soon the playoff streak will end.

Point 2; equally illegal and a no flag call was the aimed helmet to Michael Bennetts’ knee cap which then suddenly allowed Ryan the time to throw those passes. So keep the no flag calls out of it to be fair. And the refs are a third team on the field and they will balance no calls with another no call whenever they see fit to have it even out and be a fairly called game in their book, and that’s ok. The point instead is that the Falcons didn’t score enough to overcome the Hawks. So the pat on the back is to the Hawks defense as I see it.
