Ah, NFL power rankings … what better way to spark conversation and irritate oversensitive fan bases could there be…? It’s time for The Grueling Truth’s first NFL Power Rankings for the 2017 season. Be here weekly for updates to this list throughout the season. Enjoy!

32) New York Jets

The Jets are in trouble. On the bright side, this offseason has set them up to draft high enough next year to find their QB of the future, probably Sam Darnold. The defense will be better than the very poor offense, but it won’t be enough to compensate.

31) Chicago Bears

The Bears don’t have many playmakers on either side of the ball, so the outlook is bleak. The interior offensive line for the Bears is solid and Trubisky has looked promising in the pre-season, so maybe they can surprise some people?

30) San Francisco 49ers

The Niners have some pieces, just not enough. One more solid offseason and I expect they will be climbing these rankings by this time next year.

29) Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have basically Todd Gurley and that’s it. They need to get some weapons for QB Jared Goff, but it doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the Rams, at least not this year. The Rams are very good up front and the addition of Wade Phillips as the defensive coordinator means they are headed in the right direction.

28) Jacksonville Jaguars

They have talent all over, but the lack of a quality QB will end up killing this team. On the bright side a bad record leads to a high pick in a 2018 NFL Draft that is loaded with talented QB’s.

27) Indianapolis Colts

With Luck missing it looks like at least a few games at the start of the season plus all the other injuries the team has suffered it looks to be a long year ahead for the Colts.

26) Buffalo Bills

The Bills have a nice offensive line a great RB and a solid QB. That said, I think they are still in trouble on the defensive side of the ball and I just don’t have a good feeling about this team.

25) Baltimore Ravens

The offensive line is questionable, the offense lacks weapons, but as always, the defense should be solid. The offense is what does them in this year.

24) Miami Dolphins

Jay Cutler is the QB and the defense especially the Linebackers are not very good. This will be a long year for the Dolphins.

23) Cleveland Browns

The browns defense will be much improved, the offense will be better but they are still a year away from contending.

22) Denver Broncos

The Broncos defense is still one of the best in the league; the offense is not.

21) Arizona Cardinals

Carson Palmer limits what this team can do. He is older and I think this will be his last season.

20) New Orleans Saints

The Saints offense will be explosive; the defense will be atrocious.

19) Detroit Lions

The Lions have little to no run game and the back side of the defense is questionable, but if Matthew Stafford stays healthy all year, this team will still be a threat.

18) Los Angeles Chargers

Preseason injuries have dampened hopes for the Chargers, but this still could turn out to be a very dangerous football team.

17) Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have added weapons on offense and the defense will still be good. My question mark on this team is the offensive line?

16) Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are a lot like the Panthers, which means just like the Panthers the Bengals season hinges on the offensive line.

15) Washington Redskins

Overall, Washington is a solid team that should contend.

14) Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are a well-coached football team and will contend if the offense plays well.

13) Philadelphia Eagles

I think the Eagles may be just a year away from being legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

12) Houston Texans

The Texans are loaded and if one of QBs on the roster [It’s DeShaun Watson, man! DeShaun Watson!!!!!!11!!!1!! When will anyone realize it? –Ed.] steps up, they could be a scary team.

11) Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are well-coached and have a complete, balanced roster.

10) Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks line was already a problem, to loss starting LT Fant in last week’s preseason game could be a killer. The division should still be theirs, injuries or no.

9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are a young hungry team with a complete roster; they just might be a Super Bowl contender *right now*!

8) Tennessee Titans

The Titans will break through and make the playoffs this year.

7) Green Bay Packers

Having Aaron Rodgers as your QB means starting every year as a top 5 offense. The questions I have are all about the run game, and the Packers didn’t do much to answer those questions in the offseason. On defense, the secondary is a huge concern.

6) New York Giants

If the NFL was a seven-on-seven league, the Giants would be at the top. Too bad for the Giants it’s not. The offensive line is poor and the running game has been largely nonexistent. Just a little improvement in those two areas would put the Giants in the top 5 at least.

5) Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have a top 3 offensive line and a young stud QB and running back. Oh yeah, I forgot, they also have Dez Bryant. I rank them down here mainly because of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. We have seen guys in the past drop off after big rookie seasons. I don’t think that will happen with these two, but it must be taken into consideration.

4) Oakland Raiders

The addition of Marshawn Lynch could be the thing that will put the Raiders over the top. Remember this: Lynch has not played in almost two years. If he is the old “Beast Mode”, this offense will be top 5. The defense will be the question mark on this team.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben, Bell, and Brown, plus one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, means the Steelers will be another threat to win a Lombardi trophy. They will need to generate a pass rush to have any chance of beating the Patriots.

2) Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan is coming off his best season yet and he has a ton of weapons surrounding him once again. My biggest concern here is a Super Bowl hangover. If they can shake that off, they just may win the Super Bowl this year.

1) New England Patriots

The Patriots are even more loaded than they were last year. Rex Burkhead will be a big addition to this offense and will cause matchup problems for every team they play. They also got a big addition to the receiver corps in Brandin Cooks. Put it all together and you have the best offense in football once again.

Seriously? Whoever made this ranking knows nothing about football. Raiders, Steelers, Giants over the Packers… Titans and Bucs over the Seahawks, and Chiefs… Cardinals at #21 and Broncos at #22 is a JOKE… and the Browns at 23, WHAT??? How are the Browns better than the Dolphins, Ravens, Bills, and Colts
