The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for their late season surges and this year seems to be no different. The Steelers will travel to Buffalo with their destiny in their hands. After Buffalo, they have the Bengals in Cincinnati, a huge matchup at home against the Ravens and they finish up against the struggling Browns.

The Bills are in a more desperate situation, at 6-6 they must win out to have a realistic chance at securing a wild card berth. They blew a big lead last week in Oakland, so they now have no room for error.

  1. Can the Steelers stop the Bills run game? The Bills lead the NFL with 162 yards per game after putting up a staggering 212 yards last week against the Oakland Raiders. That infantry is led by LeSean McCoy, who has 949 yards at 5.5 per try. McCoy is one of the most explosive running backs in all of the NFL and the Steelers will have their hands full. The Bills will certainly lean on the run to control the ball and keep Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and his potent offense off the field. If the Bills are not successful running the ball they will have zero chance to win.
  2.  Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell vs. Bills linebackers. The Bills are stout in the middle of their defensive line so Bell will probably need to bounce some runs outside. When he does, Preston Brown and Zach Brown the Bills linebackers will be put to the test, the issue so far this year has been their inability to get off blocks and make tackles. If this is true tomorrow the Bills will be in a lot of trouble.

Overview and Prediction

This game comes down to one thing in the end and that will be can the Bills run the ball? We all know the Steelers are going to score points. I believe the only way that the Bills have a shot in this game is to control the clock and limit the Steelers possesions.

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor plays much better at home then he does on the road. He has to take care of the ball and use his legs to get some crucial first downs. The Steelers just need to not beat themselves, because they are the better team.

The Bills are a good football team and this is a very dangerous game for the Steelers. In the end, I think the Steelers will just have too many weapons for the Bills, but I expect a close hard fought game. Steelers 27  Bills 23.
