Thing 1: This could be the first time since 2007 that the Brows have a winning year and even the first time since the 2002 season that the team makes the playoffs. The last Browns playoff game was a loss to the Steelers, 36-33, on Jan 5, 2002, at Heinz Field.
The “new” Browns have never won the division and the last Browns team to win it was in 1989, when the team went 9-6-1.
Thing 2: The AFC North is on the decline. I understand the Ravens added some pieces to the secondary, but it still remains true. It’s not just for 2019, either. The next decade is the Browns’ for the taking. This team not only improved tremendously, but it has watched the surrounding teams tank such as the Bengals and Steelers.
Thing 3: It’s all about the quarterback and the Browns have it. I was as excited as you were about Odell Beckham Jr., but I frankly think that the team is going to be successful simply because Baker Mayfield is under center. This just makes them even better. We will have to see just how much…
Thing 4: The talent is obviously there, but can Head Coach Freddie Kitchens put it all together? Now, that is what remains to be seen. The team will have to use training camp and the preseason to glue all of these pieces and personalities as one successful team for the regular season (and hopefully more). A lot of NBA “Super Teams” have this issue of putting it all together and now the Browns face it as well.
Thing 5: It’s not just OBJ. LB Adarius Taylor, TE Demetrius Harris, RB Kareem Hunt, DE Olivier Vernon, DT Sheldon Richardson. The Browns added a lot of talented players to a roster that was already up-and-coming PLUS, of course, OBJ. It’s going to be an exciting season and then some. GM John Dorsey has done an incredible job, but all the glitz and the glam is on the former Giants wide receiver when it shouldn’t be just on him (as great as he is). We are seeing a total transformation! Go Browns!
