We’re back!

Join Matt Andruscavage and former 49ers running back Dexter Carter as they review last night’s preseason game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

It was good to see the 49ers pull off a win, winning 24-21.

The Good:

1) Defensive line depth

Sheldon Day and Julian Taylor are going to have a sizable role on the defensive line rotation and they both look good.

DeForest Buckner is a stud. Hopefully Arik Armstead can get healthy and also be a part of this unit.

2) Wide Receivers

7th round pick Richie James could make a real push to make the team. He was teriffic yesterday with 4 catches for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Dante Pettis had a very nice 53 yard reception, Kendrick Bourne had 3 catches for 31 yards, and Victor Bolden Jr had 3 catches for 54 yards.

They won’t be able to keep everyone, but the guys that are on the team should all contribute this year.

3) Joe Williams had a decent game and got into the endzone and didn’t fumble, which bodes well for him. Raheem Mostert also had a good game, despite a fumble.

The Bad

1) Jimmie Ward got beat for a touchdown early and things are not looking good for him right now. He needs to improve in a hurry.

2) Turnovers hurt the team. Hopefully, they’ll have less as the preseason continues.

The Ugly

The injury bug struck early and often. Malcolm Smith left the game early with a hamstring injury.

George Kittle had a concerning shoulder injury which could sideline him for a few weeks.

Matt Breida had a shoulder injury that is not believed to be serious.

Solomon Thomas had a head injury, but nothing is being reported about the severity at this time.
